How fees work
Plain answers before you book. Call us if yours is not here.
Insurance we work with
We are out of network with health plans, so we do not bill your plan. Some plans pay part of what you pay for acupuncture, and the next questions show you how to find out.
Some PPO plans include an acupuncture benefit
Some HMO plans do not
We never guess what a plan will pay
If you pay yourself
You pay by card at the end of each visit. The fee depends on how long the visit is and whether you add ear seeds or moxibustion, and we tell you before you book. A few reduced-fee visits are held each week, so ask when you call. Many health savings and flexible spending cards work for acupuncture; ask your plan administrator before you book.
Receipts for reimbursement
After each visit we give you an itemized receipt, called a superbill, that you can send to your plan. Your plan decides what it pays back.
Is there an acupuncture benefit?
How many visits does it cover?
Is there a copay or a deductible?
Do I need a referral?
An estimate in advance
We give a written estimate in advance to anyone paying without insurance. Ask for it when you book and we send it before your first visit. If a bill comes in $400 or more above your estimate, you can dispute it.
Checking your benefits
We do not call your plan for you. Before your first visit, ask it the four questions above. If it says yes, we give you what the plan needs on your receipt.
What the first visit includes
About 75 minutes: a talk about your health and your medicines, a look at your tongue and pulse, acupuncture, and a short plan for the next visits. Anahit explains the risks and answers your questions before any needle goes in. The fee is on your estimate.
Book a first visit
